The Global Shippers Alliance (GSA) has released a statement addressing shippers' frustration across the globe, detailing the global impact the container shortage will have on the world economy.
Due to the worldwide container shortage, shippers worldwide have been hit with extensive delays to their supply chains. These delays are outside the hands of freight forwarders, meaning that the shipping lines must resolve these issues.
In the statement, the GSA said that these delays and impairments were set to have a catastrophic effect on the world economy. Chairman of the GSA and European Shippers' council, Denis Choumert, said:
"Production, marketing activities, and distributions are all disrupted...and economic costs are beyond measure."
