WTA Celebrates 100 Years Achievement Award

2013 had seen WTA achieve a very big milestone that few companies can legitimately claim, over a 100 years experience in the global transportation and international logistics business.

Founded in 1913 by Ernest Sommer, a century of successfully managing freight has been achieved through the consistent delivery of service excellence, business integrity and financial stability that customers rightly expect and deserve. With WTA’s origins in Switzerland, the focus from the outset has been on global operations, building networks, investing in technologies and developing staff worldwide to maintain our capabilities at the forefront of international supply chain logistics design and management.

In recognition of what we have achieved over the last century, WTA were recently presented with an award from BIFA in recognition of 100 year in freight forwarding 1913-2013.

Third generation owner Charles Sommer commented “ On behalf of WTA, I thank BIFA for our award, we have succeeded through our ability to change and take a long term view of where we want to go and our success has been to continue to adapt and change over time. Transportation remains key to the work that we do but the way that we operate has obviously had to change over the past 100 years”.

Managing Director, Gerry Lawler explains, “ As we begin our next 100 years, we see our past as a springboard for the future. Building on the knowledge and foundations from the first 100 years, we continue to invest in our future strength. Innovation in supply chain logistics, developing information technology, global resources, proven capabilities in continuous improvement together with the training and development of our highly motivated people, underscore our total commitment to our customers both now in the future.
